Satya Mitra Wins Keynote Speaker Contest at H.D. Vest National Conference

IRVING, TEXAS (November 15, 2007) – At the 21st H.D. Vest National Conference, Satya Mitra delivered the winning keynote address to an audience of 1,150 H.D. Vest Advisors as part of the first-ever Advisor Keynote Contest and received a one-year speaking contract with Financial Forum, Inc. and the opportunity to be published in a financial planning book.

"Our knowledge as financial advisors has a much bigger purpose to serve,” stated Mitra. “I want to use this knowledge to educate and motivate young people in our community so that they can be financially independent at an early stage of their lives."

Keynote contest entrants developed presentations to motivate their fellow Advisors to grow their financial planning practices. A panel of judges viewed the video entries and selected 10 semi-finalists to participate in the semi-final round in San Antonio, TX, and receive specialized training. The semi-finalists participated in a public speaking workshop on November 6 led by a professional speaking coach and presented their keynote messages on November 7 to a panel of live judges who selected three finalists for the final round of the contest. The three finalists presented their keynote address during the H.D. Vest National Conference General Session on Thursday, November 8, where an audience of H.D. Vest Advisors voted on the winner.

Mitra has been an Advisor with H.D. Vest since 1993. He has owned The Guru Tax & Financial Services, Inc., in Worcester, MD since 1990. Mitra graduated from Nagpur University in India with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and received the Certified Financial Planner^TM designation in 1993. He is also an Enrolled Agent.
